The Lion and the Lamb

From our young days we were told the month of March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. I eventually figured out this meant the month started with roaring winter weather and ended mildly in spring. Certainly, I learned old sayings aren't always reliable when we have seen a sunny spring-like March 1 and snow at the end of March into April. But we get the general idea.

I am also reminded of how numerous times Georgetta Reed talked of how she wanted to get to heaven to see the lion with the lamb. While I won't even try to think I know how everything will be in heaven, we might get some hints through prophesy in Isaiah 11:6 which says, "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them." Also, in Isaiah 65:25 we read this: “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and the dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,' says the Lord."

More than anything, I want to get to heaven and see Jesus, our sacrificial lamb. John the Baptizer introduced Him in John 1:29 -- "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Jesus fulfilled this as 1 Peter 1:18-19 says, "Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot."

We will know where to find our Redeemer. Hebrews 10:12 tells us, "But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God." This sacrificial lamb is more powerful than any lion or other beast on the earth. As we read in Matthew 28:18, "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.' "

Philippians 2:9-10 says, "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth."

Regardless of the weather this March or any other month, our Lamb and Lion is precious Jesus. We cannot comprehend everything about Revelation, but in in Revelation 5:5-6, we are told enough about Jesus; He is our Lamb and Lion.
