Thanksgiving priorities
With hopes that all enjoy festive meals associated with this time of year, let us keep in mind priorities.
Jesus said in John 6:27, "Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him."
Where do we get this food that never perishes? "And Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.' "
(John 6:35)
How wonderful we are offered this greatest kind of soul food! We have ways to respond, noticing no dates attached to these instructions:
"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving." (Colossians 4:2)
"Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms." (Psalm 95:2)
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name." (Psalm 100:4)
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6)
