For All Truth Diggers: a word of caution and encouragement

For the vast amount of information the Bible covers is radically brief, still for those who long to mine the gems held between its covers it can be an intimidating task. For this reason, a word of caution and encouragement is offered from one truth digger to another. The word is STUDY (2 Tim. 2:15 KJV). There are hazards, dead ends, bottomless pits and such that perforate the mountain of truth (2 Tim. 2:14 16, 3:7). Many have carelessly ventured down such shafts only to find fools gold. Some go so far that finding the way back is no longer possible (2 Thess. 2:11). Only honest diligent study can keep a truth digger from straying too far (2 Jn. 9). Yes, there are dangers for the truth digger, but don’t let fear keep you from the most rewarding work anyone can do. In those mines there are also veins of truth worth more than any pot of gold. There are gems of solid truth that are clearer and more brilliant than any diamond dug from the earth. Cartloads are lying right on the floor waiting for anyone willing to reach out and take them (Eph. 3:4). Others are deeper; requiring time, diligence, and sweat. They are there though and the truth digger that seeks through study will have his reward (Matt. 7:7).
