All that matters: God knows
What wisdom was shown in a prayer request I received recently! The friend started by asking for help to "keep my mouth shut", a talent often overlooked. Not revealing the "who" in this request, I do not even know much of the "what." Rather than going into detail, the friend just said "God knows the whole story."
How true! While smarter than me, this person isn't an all-powerful genius originating these ideas. They come from the all-powerful God's word.
As for our mouths: "So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God." (James 1:19-20)
And, as if we could tell God something:
"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Romans 8:26)
And..."Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him." (Matthew 6:8)
God still wants us to pray as Jesus in the following verses gave us a model as to how we should do so. May I use this wisdom in my prayers and prayer requests!
