Blessed or rotting

Watching and hearing all the tributes of Willie Mays the past few days can remind us impressions we make can last even after our lives on earth are done. Lessons taught by this baseball great are still remembered and help his admirers.

While Willie is in baseball's Hall of Fame, we Christians can look at what we sometimes call the Hall of Faith recounting faithful acts in Hebrews 11. Of course, the greatest example of all is the life and loving sacrifice by Jesus Christ.

While I will never be in the baseball Hall of Fame or be as famous as Willie Mays, let alone be as great as Jesus, we all can leave impressions. I hope to be remembered as the sinner who repented and eventually, finally lived for the Lord. I hope to remind others of at least one scripture.

We all fall into one of these two categories:

"The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot." (Proverbs 10:7)

How do you want to be remembered?

(Scripture quotes are from the NKJV)
