Don’t face God without Him

Sometimes when we take a car to a mechanic, we want someone with us who knows about cars. We don't go to lawyers because we like paying a big retainer or triple-digit fees per hour. We pay them because they know how to help.

Sometimes this works and sometimes maybe not. If only we could find one we trust. In the most important matters that last forever, we have the most trustworthy. That is Jesus who intercedes for us. We don't have to know everything and be perfect ourselves to be perfect in front of God. Jesus makes us that way. He is the One the inspired writer speaks of in Hebrews 7:25 -- "Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."

While caring about all of us, Jesus cannot help those who don't accept Him by believing in Him (John 8:24, Mark 16:16), confessing Jesus is our Savior (Romans 10:9-10), repenting (Acts 2:38, Luke 13:3-5), being baptized (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21), and staying faithful (Matthew 10:22, Revelation 2:10).

Never has anyone earned our trust more than Jesus who gave His life for us. So why would we not follow Psalm 37:5? It says, "Commit your way to the lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

So no matter my weaknesses and foolishness, I've got a guy. Pardon me if that sounds disrespectful. Actually, I have Jesus: "So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God." (Mark 16:19)

Talk about friends in high places.
