Trust the One Who Cannot Lie
Looking for the right medical insurance and health care these days can be a guessing game.
Buying a car has never been a sure thing. Even an honest salesperson might unknowingly sell you a lemon.
Maybe one out of 50 telemarketers are offering a fair deal, but who knows which one.
We can have a sure thing.
That truthful offer is explained in the start of the epistle Titus, saying, “Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;”
Let’s focus on verse 2 of that first chapter of Titus -- “God, who cannot lie, promised...”
We can bank on what God tells us in the Bible.
Of all the things our Creator can do, He cannot lie.
We need to accept Him rather than getting in a lie as 1 John 2:21-22 says, “I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.”
Jesus fulfills prophecy and demands our trust. You can find many Biblical passages about trust, including Micah 7:5-7 -- “Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion; Guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom. For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household. Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.”
So we know whom we can trust. We also know our thoughts will be known by the One who matters most as we see from Nahum 1:7 -- “The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And he knows those who trust in Him.”
